UQ Bakeology

The University of Queensland’s first baking club, connecting people of different backgrounds through a shared interest in baking and/ or baked goods! UQ Bakeology aims to create a safe space that is inclusive of people from different backgrounds with either an interest in baking or simply a shared love for food. Club members will be able to connect with others through baking-related activities, sharing baking recipes from different cultures, and both learning from and educating each other. The club promotes baking as a form of art and joyful activity. Through UQ Bakeology, learning how to bake will become more accessible, supporting the belief that anyone can bake.

UQ Bakeology is a hobby/ interest club based at the University of Queensland. It was founded in July of 2023, and officially affiliated with the University of Queensland Union in January of 2024. UQ Bakeology is also proudly the University’s first and only (as of the moment) baking club! UQ Bakeology was created with aims of connecting people through a shared interest in baking and to show people that anyone can bake! Bakeology is inclusive and open for anyone to join, even if they have no interest in learning how to bake and are just in it to eat baked goods. Our planned activities/ events for the club’s first year in running include baking classes, competitions, bake sales for fundraising, and collaborations with other UQU clubs to list a few. We aim to promote inclusivity and diversity by immersing different cultural dishes and various recipes within said events. Through UQ Bakeology, “Bakeologists” (our official name for the club members) inside and outside of the University have the opportunity to meet new people and learn all things baking!

Of course! UQ Bakeology is open to anyone and everyone. We will also be holding baking classes if you are interested in learning! If not, there are plenty of other events that do not require any baking skills at all!

Certainly! In fact, a few people running the club have just freshly graduated from UQ.
