Our club has two main missions:
1: To enjoy works by diverse creators and support them. This is a space to watch great films and enjoy other media with good representation, created by diverse creators, and well received by their communities.
2: To encourage our own diverse talent on campus. We will be creating opportunities to get work noticed, as well as sharing broader opportunities. So be sure to follow our page for that!
We hold movie nights, trivia, poetry afternoons, book club and book swaps, and much more! We will always be centring diverse voices, and will often aim for an intersectional approach. We also collaborate with the UQ Union Diversity Collectives when making choices of what media to support and for events.
Join us for discussion and sharing media within the group, as well as attending and supporting local events such as the Undercover Artist Festival and Pride Film Festival with other like-minded people.
Anyone who feels that they are underrepresented or poorly represented in media! This could be anything, from people of different cultural backgrounds and with disabilities, to those with diverse sexualities, and genders- but is certainly not limited to these areas!
No, we do not require disclosure and hope to make this a safe and comfortable space to connect with others from diverse backgrounds, understand each other, and support creators.
Allies are very welcome to join in order to broaden their perspectives and support diverse creators, though we ask allies to be aware of centring minorities and platforming them first.
