Ricky Lee UQU President 2023

G’Day, my name is Richard (Ricky), and I’m honoured to serve as your Union President for 2023. As a Global Change Scholar and PhD candidate at the School of Education, I believe in harnessing students’ experience to drive progress, and make the University a better place.

In 2023, mental health and wellbeing is a top priority for my team. We understand the challenges that students face, and we are committed to ensuring that all students have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.

For us, this means strengthening the ‘sense of belonging’ and building the peer support networks at the University – including our Collectives, and Clubs and Societies. We believe that student organisations play a vital role in campus life, and we want to continue to foster leadership capabilities and celebrate the successes of our student community.

As we continue to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing students back on campus is a key focus for us. As such, the Union will continue to rebuild an inclusive, supportive, and connected campus community.

I’m committed to ensuring that all students have a voice and are represented, regardless of their background or campus location, whether you’re a domestic or international student, postgraduate or undergraduate.
