Hey there! I’m Alex (he/him) – your 2024 UQ Union Secretary!
UQ Union is your student union – an organisation run by students, for students, 100% independent of the University. Our job is to support you through your time at university by providing services such as Student Advocacy & Support (SAS), welfare programs like the free breakfast and dinner programs, as well as advocating for students interests in the face of the university, and the government.
Each October you get to have your say over how student money is spent and how your student union is run via the UQ Union Elections. In 2024, some of the things we intend to focus on include providing better food options on campus, supporting welfare initiatives by increasing bursaries, and something I’m most proud of: establishing the UQU Housing & Accommodation Advisory Service, to provide you with the information you need to feel protected and supported when dealing with housing issues.
