What are you currently studying?
My major is the international economic and finance. I’m doing Master’s degree, second semester, and will graduate in July 2025.
What are you most looking forward to about your involvement in the Union in 2024?
As an international student, I aspire for our union to advocate vigorously for enhanced benefits and opportunities for international students.
What are your priorities, key focuses and/or commitments in 2024?
As a College Officer who is also an international student, my role encompasses supporting all college students. However, I will place additional emphasis on assisting international students who may face unfair treatment and potential discrimination, issues that are more frequently encountered in colleges where the majority of students are domestic.
What do you believe are the biggest or most pressing challenges facing students today?
I am convinced that the most significant challenge confronting students remains the subtle yet pervasive discriminatory policies and attitudes towards international students, including exorbitant living costs and numerous academic opportunities exclusively reserved for domestic students, among others.
How would you like to support, represent, and/or entertain students?
As a College Officer, I have been allocated a budget to support various college activities, encompassing both sports and academics. Additionally, I have the capability to seek assistance from our student union, utilizing its resources to aid students effectively.
What’s been a highlight or favourite moment or event from your time at university or with UQU?
Although I have been here for only one semester, my favorite moments remain those of campaign week and voting week. The unified effort towards a common goal instills in me a sense of belonging to the collective, thereby providing me with significant motivation. Throughout the campaign period, I forged numerous invaluable friendships and created cherished memories that I will treasure for a lifetime.
What can you be found doing for fun when you’re not studying or working?
Go to gym or running.
Where’s your favourite spot to grab a feed and kick back on campus?
REDROOM, the burgers are amazing and the beer is also nice!
