What are you most looking forward to about your involvement in the Union in 2024?

I am most looking forward to working with our diverse team to establish a fruitful and memorable year, just like the UQ motto, creating change.

What are your priorities, key focuses and/or commitments in 2024?

My focus in 2024 will be on international cultural dissemination and student welfare, and I will strive to enhance UQU’s visibility among international student communities. To create a sense of belonging for international students at UQ, enhance the campus life experience for all international students, and make them feel happy and equal here.

What do you believe are the biggest or most pressing challenges facing students today?

The most urgent challenge at present is still the cost of living crisis, which is also my field of study. After experiencing the most severe inflation in nearly 50 years, we can still see the continuous increase in the cost of living. This is not only a problem faced by domestic students, but also by international students who are affected by the global economic downturn, combined with the impact of exchange rates, their response to the cost of living crisis will be more sensitive and intense.

How would you like to support, represent, and/or entertain students?

I hope to establish more direct communication channels with students, effectively exchange information between us. On the one hand, students can know what help we can provide, and on the other hand, we can also know what students need. Only in this way can we truly represent and serve students. At the same time, I am committed to building a community for student mutual assistance, so that students can deepen their connections and achieve mutual benefit. I warmly welcome students to establish contact with me directly through my contact information.

What’s been a highlight or favourite moment or event from your time at university or with UQU?

Last year, I served as the finance officer of UQU’s international department, and we successfully organized international events together. When I saw people from different skin colors, races, and cultural backgrounds gathered together with smiles on their faces, it was my favorite moment.

What can you be found doing for fun when you’re not studying or working?

Maintaining exercise, such as cycling and swimming, really allows me to take a break and meditate during busy work and life, especially as I gradually appreciate the complete scenery of Brisbane while cycling.

Where’s your favourite spot to grab a feed and kick back on campus?

On a Roll Bakery
