Tips for Planning – Your Life, Your Study and Your Goals!

Knowing what planning works for you can make a huge difference to your life as a student. Here are our top tips on planning!

Keep A Calendar

Calendars are a great way to see an overview of your upcoming days, weeks and months – which is handy for planning ahead. Use your phone calendar for convenience (great for adding reminders and alarms!) or use a physical calendar to plan your study times, classes and assessment.

Use A Planner

Ever feel like you’ve got too much to do? Or the task you need to do is too big and overwhelming? Or maybe you’re often finding that you’re forgetting to do this. Using planners can help you plan out and break down your tasks into smaller tasks to help you achieve your bigger task. E.g. Your 2000 word assignment will seem less intense when you have a 250 word Intro, 3 x 500 word Body paragraphs, and a 250 word Conclusion!

Use a journal with a merged calendar or a bullet journal if you’re into more customisation (and also lots of drawing!), or planning apps like Notion to customise to what you need.

Using a planner is great for prioritising tasks or even just scatter your thoughts and ideas about your studies before piecing them together!

Create study goals and plans

Creating goals and plans can help you navigate how you want to achieve things, whether it’s for your personal life, your studies or your professional life.

Some questions you can ask about achieving your study goals are:

  • What goals do you want to achieve with your study?
  • How can you fit study into your current schedule?
  • What is the best method for studying for you?

Think about how you want to achieve your study goals or your own personal goals in your own schedule and situation.
